The higher education institutions in the US are not centrally managed but are accredited on a national or regional level by independent accrediting bodies. The colleges and universities basically offers three basic programs:

• Associate’s Degree – An academic program taken by students after secondary school, prior to a Bachelors course.
• Undergraduate Degree – The duration of undergraduate programs in the US is four years.
• Postgraduate Degree – Master degrees in the US vary from one to two years.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

For an Undergraduate Degree:

• Successful completion of the international equivalent of US/Canadian secondary education (Year 12)
• Diploma or acceptable certification of graduation from High School in your home country
• English language ability :
  1. TOEFL iBT: 80+
  2. IELTS 6+ bands
  3. SAT 1100+

For a Postgraduate Degree:

• International equivalent of a North American four-year Bachelor’s degree program from an accredited university
• If you have a three-year Bachelor’s degree or diploma, you can complete a qualifying Pre-Master’s program firsty
• Official transcripts for all colleges/universities attended
• English language ability :
  1. TOEFL-iBT 65- 80
  2. IELTS 6.5-7.0
  3. GMAT score 500+ /GRE score 290+

Living In USA

US definitely has some of the world’s best education institutions that attract a large number of international students every year. However, this also comes with high living costs. The living costs in the USA varies depending on the area you live in which is due to the vast territory of the country.The general monthly expenditure is as follows:

Being an International student, the job hunting process can sometimes become a bit difficult but it’s always good to plan ahead. You must keep a track of rules and regulations that affect your employment status in the United States – both as a graduate and after graduation.

You can work for a maximum of 20 hours per week on-campus while the university is in session, and 40 hours per week during vacation period. Once you have completed your one full academic year, you can look for off-campus employment upon authorization by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). There are basically 3 options for off-campus employment:

• Curricular Practical Training (CPT)
• Optional Practical Training (OPT)
• Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Optional Practical Training Extension (OPT)
