Primary and Secondary Stage
Primary Education begins in the UK at age 5 and continues until age 11, comprising key stages one and two under the UK educational system. From age 11 to 16, students will enter Secondary School for key stages three and four and to start their move towards taking the GCSE’s.
Primary and secondary education is mandatory in the UK; after age 16, education is optional.
University Preparation in the UK
Sixth Form (16+)
In UK “O” level is equivalent to SSC, “A” levels (2 years) is equivalent to HSC. A student needs to complete A Level, IB Diploma, University Foundation or a Cambridge Pre-U in order to gain entry at the University level.
Tertiary Education / University
The first three years of a university education will be in an undergraduate degree programme. An undergraduate degree may be Bachelor program of 3 Years or 4 Years with Sandwich program option. The student is allotted with a BA (Bachelor of Arts), BEngg. (Bachelor of Engineering), and BSc (Bachelor of Science) or with or without honours as per the student’s selected course of study .
Postgraduate Masters or a Ph.D
A typical Master degree is of 1 year and provides the student with a MA/MS/ME degree.
A Doctorate program or a Ph.D is for 3 years and also ranges as per the applicant’s research topic.
